SHENANDOAH – One of the two men accused of breaking into the Family Dollar store on West Centre Street is in police custody.
Chief George Carado said in a release Friday night that Kevin Kerner was arrested Friday evening.
Kerner, 35, of Locustdale, Carado said, and Glen Stitzer, 38, of Gordon, were charged in relation to a break-in Tuesday night at the the store at 640 West Centre.
Arrest warrants were issued and bulletins were transmitted to local law enforcement agencies.
Friday night, Carado said Frackville Police Patrolman Brian Reno spotted a car associated with Kerner at O.I.P. Pizza, where Kerner worked.
An arrest detail was assembled consisting of officers from Shenandoah, Frackville, West Mahanoy Township, and Butler Township.
Kerner was working in the kitchen at the time and was promptly taken into custody.
He was arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer, Tamaqua, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison, unable to post 10% of $25,000 cash bail.
A preliminary hearing is set for March 28.
Stitzer remains at large.
