LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock County Sheriff Kelly Rowe gave a presentation at the Lubbock County Commissioner’s Court hearing today. He said his department needs more funds to keep up with a growing county with growing issues, so he is looking for a bigger budget the next fiscal year.
Sheriff Rowe said the biggest need is staffing. He highlighted the need for patrol deputies, mental health professionals, and detention center staff.
Rowe said his current deputies are working overtime to address a multitude of issues; stretching the force thin.
Rowe added he wanted to bring up the discussion early for the next fiscal year, stating they begin working on it in January of every year.
