The Sensex was up 287.18 points or 0.37 percent at 77,279.95, and the Nifty was up 76.20 points or 0.32 percent at 23,541.8. The market breadth was in favour of gainers as around 1,908 shares advanced, 1,535 shares declined, and 118 shares unchanged.
The top sectoral gainers at this hour stood out to be Nifty IT and Nifty Private Bank indices as they rose up to 0.7 percent each. Fear gauge India VIX, meanwhile, ticked up by a percent to trade around 13 level.
