SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Georgia State Rep. Carl Gilliard (D-162) has been fined by the state ethics commission for misusing campaign funds.
The commission found that Gilliard left off 110 expenditures from campaign disclosures.
The expenses totaled $54,000 ranging from small purchases like pet supplies and spa services to large purchases like a $972 payment to TitleMax.
Gilliard is ordered to pay $47,000.
Thirty thousand of that will be paid to his campaign account and the other $17,000 to the commission as part of a consent decree.
According to the commission, the lawmaker has already paid the fine.
