SALT LAKE CITY — Over the last 10 years, a husband and wife’s heartfelt effort to raise funds for a friend battling cancer has blossomed into a foundation. Ink Against Cancer now aids over 75 Utah residents in their battles against the disease.
Tattoo lovers Hildegard and Jay Koenig host a series of diverse events. Their largest annual gathering, Ink Against Cancer: Ink & Art Fest, will happen at the fairgrounds on July 13 and 14.
“We both work full-time jobs and we do this,” Hildegard said. “Our foundation is different from others because it doesn’t matter the type of cancer [or] the age.”
For this event, more than 30 artists will convene at the fairgrounds, pledging between 50% and, in some cases, 100% of their proceeds to the cause.
