CHUGWATER – The Chug Creek Cultivators are diligently working to raise funds for the installation of a new Blue Star Memorial in Chugwater. The original memorial, dedicated in 2004 or 2005, was unfortunately stolen or disappeared over the years. Recognizing the importance of this tribute, the Chug Creek Cultivators are committed to bringing a new memorial to the community, with nearly half of the necessary funds already raised.
To support this cause, the club has organized a series of community fundraising events. At the recent Chugwater Chili Cook Off, the Chug Creek Cultivators hosted a successful plant sale, attracting both locals and visitors. Additionally, they conducted a drink and baked goods sale at a nearby rest stop, targeting travelers heading to the Sturgis Rally. These efforts were bolstered by the sale of custom-designed t-shirts, which have been well-received by supporters.
“We are deeply committed to reinstalling the Blue Star Memorial and are heartened by the community’s support so far,” said Susie Graves, a key member of the Chug Creek Cultivators. “While we are nearly halfway to our fundraising goal, we still need additional funds to complete this important project. We invite everyone to join us in honoring our military service members by contributing to this cause.”
The Blue Star Memorial program, established by the National Garden Clubs, Inc., honors the men and women who have served, are serving, or will serve in the United States Armed Forces. These memorial markers and by-ways are a visible tribute to the valor and sacrifices of our military personnel and are found in communities across the country.
