LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig‘s Disease, is a devastating diagnosis that steals the person’s mobility and speech. Fortunately today, there are now high-tech gadgets that can help patients stay connected to family.
But that technology is expensive. This is why the West Texas ALS Support Group raised funds through its annual Unmasking ALS Masquerade Ball, which was held Saturday.
The money raised goes toward its equipment closet, where area patients can borrow what they need during their illness.
The organization also provides monthly support group meetings, mini grants for medication and home modifications, travel expenses for clinic trips, and more.
