Woman shot at West Side Dollar Tree; teenage boy with stab wound linked to attack


SAN ANTONIO – A woman was discovered Monday night with multiple gunshot wounds inside a Dollar Tree on the West Side, but authorities believe she was not the intended target of the attack.

Meanwhile, a teenage boy who later arrived at a local hospital with a stab wound to the head is now a key figure in the investigation and is likely to have been involved in the shooting.

The incident happened just before 6:30 p.m. at the Dollar Tree off West Commerce Street near South General McMullen.

Investigators say an ongoing dispute between a group of teenagers was the cause of this shooting. Several teenagers began arguing inside the store when police believe a 15-year-old boy pulled out a gun and started shooting, hitting the 17-year-old girl several times, including in the stomach.

She was rushed to the hospital in serious condition.

After the shooting, police said the 15-year-old boy showed up a nearby hospital with after he was stabbed in the head.

No word on if any arrests have been made at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
