The host nation of the 2025 UEFA Women’s European Championship looks to grab some points in its second match of the tournament, as Switzerland gets set to take on Iceland.
Both nations had tough starts to their runs at the Euros. Switzerland seemed like they were on the right path to an opening match victory in front of a spirited home crowd, with Nadine Riesen scoring in the first half against Norway last Wednesday. However, two quick strikes by the Norwegians, including a costly own goal, hurt the Swiss, leading to a 2-1 loss.

Iceland had plenty of problems in the first match of the tournament last week, as captain Glodis Viggosdottir seemed to be hurt in the opening half, leading to her exit once the second half got underway. Paired up with a mysterious double-yellow to Hildur Antonsdottir and a goal for the Finns, the Icelandic squad found itself on the wrong end of a 1-0 decision.
For the Swiss, who are trying to get out of the group stage for the first time in the team’s history, a win on Sunday is necessary to keep their hopes alive. Iceland, which made it to the quarterfinals in 2013, has not won a Euro match in 12 years.
