First place in Group B is on the line on Friday in Switzerland, as Spain and Italy lock horns in their last opening-round match of the 2025 UEFA Women’s European Championship.
Both teams started the tournament strong, but one side has the advantage heading into the final matchday.
Spain currently sits atop the group thanks to a couple of dominating wins. After walloping Portugal, 5-0, last Thursday, La Roja pulled away late against Belgium this past Monday. Though things were close for a little bit, Spain pulled away with four unanswered goals in the second half to come away with a 6-2 win.

Italy had to work hard to come away with a win over Belgium on Matchday 1 last week, and looked as if they were on their way to a second win a few days ago. However, a goal given up in the 89th minute against Portugal cost Azzurre three points, as they only came to a 1-1 draw.
Now, Italy is two points behind Spain. If this match ends in a draw, Spain clinches first, while Italy will settle for second. However, if Italy loses by enough goals, and Portugal beats up Belgium, there is a chance Italy could miss out on the knockout stage.
