Two U.K. rivals meet up in a crucial match on Sunday in Switzerland, as England and Wales meet in the final match of the group stage at the 2025 UEFA Women’s European Championship.
There were plenty of doubts surrounding the defending European Champions, especially after a disappointing loss at the hands of France on Matchday 1. However, England responded in a big way this past Wednesday, beating up the Netherlands 4-0 to move into second place, sharing the same number of points as the Dutch.

Wales has not had any luck so far in the tournament. After a rough second half against the Netherlands eight days ago, the Welsh squad showed some fight against France, but proved to be overmatched in a 4-1 loss.
If England and the Dutch were to draw, the Lionesses would be the ones moving on to the quarterfinals. If England were to lose to Wales, they would need the Netherlands to lose to France by a comfortable margin, as the English have a goal differential of +3 to the Dutch’s -1.
Wales is not completely eliminated yet. If they beat England by a lot of goals, and the Netherlands suffers a significant loss to France, there is a chance Wales could finish second in the group, however unlikely.
