HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Drake State Community and Technical College says it’s getting an additional $700,000 in fiscal year 2026 thanks to U.S. Sen. Katie Britt.
This money will go toward workforce training.
The college says Britt, who is on the Senate Committee on Appropriations, directly secured the funds through the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.
In total, Britt has directly secured more than $5.74 million for the Alabama Community College System in fiscal year 2026 appropriations funding, according to Drake State.
A press release from Drake State contained this statement from Britt:

The $700,000 in funding I was proud to directly secure for Drake State will benefit not just the students, faculty, and staff on campus, but also Huntsville and the surrounding communities. This is exactly the investment federal taxpayer dollars should make—empowering our students and preparing the next generation of leaders. I remain a dedicated partner and champion of Alabama’s Community College System, and I look forward to seeing how this funding strengthens the Drake State campus and programs driving tomorrow’s workforce.
