Four area schools have received Dollar General Literacy Foundation Awards. The recipients can use the funds for professional development opportunities and/or to purchase books, technology, equipment or materials to help extend a brighter future for K-12 students.
In north central Arkansas, awards were granted to:
– Melbourne School District in the amount of $4,000
– Yellville-Summit High School library in the amount of $3,000
In southern Missouri, awards were granted to:
– Bakersfield R-IV in the amount of $3,000
– West Plains Junction Hill School in the amount of $5,000
Applications for the 2027 Dollar General Literacy Foundation grant cycle supporting youth, family, summer and adult literacy programs will be available at dgliteracy.org in January 2027. These grants aim to support schools, libraries, and non-profit organizations within a 15-mile radius of a Dollar General store or distribution center in implementing new literacy initiatives or expanding existing ones.
