ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The Medical Center Health System Foundation announced the approval of funding for an MCH Certified Perinatal Social Worker to attend the National Association of Perinatal Social Workers Conference in Seattle, Washington, with a total approved cost of $1,940.
By attending the event, MCH says Janett Franco will be able to bring back up to date information on practices, skills, and resources available to better serve the population when they come to the Medical Center Health System.
“Thanks to the generosity and dedication of Children’s Miracle Network, I will have the opportunity to attend this year’s Perinatal Social Work Conference. It is with great hope that this conference will allow the opportunity to strengthen the children in our community and starting at the time a baby is born. I am hopeful to gain new insight, information, and access to resources to help our perinatal community despite individualized challenges that this period may bring to everyone involved,” said Janett Franco.
Franco has been a Certified Perinatal Social Worker with the MCH Center for Women and Infants for five years. She assesses and assists in a variety of situations individual to patients and families. She is consulted when stressors, risk factors, or concerns are presented, including NICU admissions, domestic abuse, inability to provide basic needs for the infant, safety concerns to the welfare of Patients, and assists in identifying risk factors associated with Post-Partum Mental Health.
