A Lawndale Dollar General was robbed by two armed men Wednesday, according to the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office.
Capt. Durwin Briscoe said around noon Wednesday, two men entered the store at 224 E. Stagecoach Trail. He said the men both had masks and gloves on and both had firearms.
“They approached the clerks and demanded money from them,” he said. “The clerks gave them a small amount of money.”
He said they made off with some cash from the register.
Briscoe said the two then left the store on foot heading in the direction of Lawndale.
At the time of the robbery, there were a couple of witnesses in the store, and Briscoe said they described the men as being around 18 to 19 years old. One was wearing a white T-shirt underneath a hoodie with a red pattern on the back and red shoes.
Briscoe said the other man was wearing a black hoodie, black plants and black shoes and had a backpack with red pattern on the back.
He said there are no leads at this point and when deputies brought a K-9 to the location, the dogs tracked back toward Lawndale and then circled the area. He said they believe the two had a car parked somewhere below the store.
