Change is in the air at weekend Longview Coin and Currency Show | Local News

This weekend’s Longview Coin and Currency Show features about 40 vendors with 50 tables of collectibles.

The show, sponsored by the Longview Coin Club, opened Friday and continues 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Holiday Inn North, 300 Tuttle Circle. Admission is $2.

Charles Justman, president of the Longview Coin Club, said the group has been around for just more than two years, and this is members’ first time to host a show.

“It’s a great opportunity for the public to see history,” he said. “We have old coins, new coins, rare coins error coins, $1,000 bills, you name it.”

He said the club meets once a month and is a great education program for collectors.

Tucker Thelen, 12, of Marshall was browsing the display cases of coins Friday with his “Nana,” Nadine Hopp. He said he has been collecting coins for a couple of years, but this was the first coin show he has attended.

“It’s exciting to learn about coins. I’m really interested in the cameo frosted proof coins,” he said, referring to proof coins that have a mirror-like background with frosted design elements.
