UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio —
OVI: Cedar Road
At 5:15 p.m. March 1, officers were dispatched to the store Family Dollar, 13470 Cedar Road, on a report of a vehicle that was driven into the building.
Upon arrival, officers observed a maroon Chevrolet Tahoe crashed into the west side of the building. After further investigation, the registered owner, a Maple Heights man, 40, was arrested for OVI and using weapons while intoxicated.
He was booked into Solon jail.
Domestic violence: Channing Road
At 6:35 p.m. Feb. 26, police took a report in the police station lobby of domestic violence.
The following day, officers went to the Channing Road home where the incident occurred and arrested a man, 39.
He was charged with domestic violence.
Officer injury: Kerwin Road
At 1:40 p.m. Feb. 27, officers responded to the apartment building at 2175 Kerwin Road on a report of a disturbance. While on the scene, an officer sustained a minor injury to his leg.
The injury was documented and treated.
Warrant arrest: Warrensville Center Road
At 1:55 p.m. Feb. 28, an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 2400 block of Warrensville Center Road for a registration violation.
The driver, a Cleveland woman, 32, was issued a citation for expired registration and was arrested on an active warrant.
The car’s passenger, an East Cleveland man, 27, was also arrested on an active warrant.
The vehicle was towed.
Warrant arrest: Warrensville Center Road
At 4:50 p.m. Feb. 28, officers received a Flock camera notification of a vehicle traveling on southbound Washington Boulevard, near Cedar Road, the driver of which was wanted on multiple felony warrants.
Officers observed the silver BMW car passing a UHPD vehicle and began following it to confirm with dispatch its license plate number.
Once backup arrived, officers conducted a felony stop on Warrensville Center Road, near Shelburne Road.
The driver, a Euclid man, 64, was taken into custody without incident.
He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and transferred to Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office deputies on his active warrants. His vehicle was towed.
Unruly juvenile: Edgerton Road
At 6:15 p.m. March 1, officers responded to the 2200 block of Edgerton Road on a report of an active disturbance occurring between a mother and her 16-year-old son.
On scene, officers detained the juvenile and spoke to his mother, who reported that her son became verbally aggressive, attempted to take her vehicle, and kicked the side door of her home, causing damage.
Nothing physical occurred between the two.
A report was taken and will be forwarded to the juvenile detective.
OVI: Canterbury Road
At 4:10 a.m. March 2, officers were dispatched to the area of 2328 Canterbury Road on reports of a motor vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a truck had struck a vehicle that was parked on the street. Officers later discovered that the truck driver was impaired while also in possession of a firearm.
Police arrested the Cleveland man, 29, for OVI and using a weapon while intoxicated.
Police transported the man to the Solon jail.
Obstructing official business: Meadowbrook Boulevard
At 8:10 p.m. March 2, police responded to a 911 call from the 3900 block of Meadowbrook Boulevard.
The caller was a man who stated that he could hear people inside the house where he was staying.
When officers arrived, the caller explained that the house was a multi-room-for-rent Airbnb.
Police later learned that the people inside the home were other renters who tried to open the wrong room door.
During the course of the investigation, a Shaker Heights woman, 41, and a Shaker Heights man, 44, were arrested and charged with obstruction and resisting arrest.
Theft: University Parkway
At 4:15 p.m. Feb. 26, officers were dispatched to the 4300 block of University Parkway on a report of a stolen “no parking” sign.
Police gathered information and took a report.
