Villarreal have been searching for Alexander Sorloth’s replacement over the last week, with the Norwegian striker having joined Atletico Madrid for €35m. It now appears that they are about to close this matter, with a signing that would be almost nine times cheaper.
Earlier this week, Villarreal approaches Ayoze Perez with a contract offer. The attacker, who was part of Spain’s Euro 2024-winning squad, has a €4m release clause in his Real Betis contract, which is of no problem to the Yellow Submarine.
Betis have tried to keep Ayoze, presenting a new contract of their own. However, it was not as lucrative as the one tabled by Villarreal, and they will now lose one of their most important attacking players, as per Relevo.
Ayoze is a fantastic signing for Villarreal, and at €4m, he is a bargain. It will be interesting to see whether he plays as a striker for Marcelino Garcia Toral, or whether he continues as a left winger – it’s a position that the Yellow Submarine are well-covered, but it’s where Ayoze played for Betis.
