Euro News: Kabayel vs. Schwarz Ordered By EBU, Erik Skoglund Plots Comeback

The EBU has finally found a mandatory challenger for its heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel (23-0 / 25-2) and it’s fellow German contender Tom Schwarz (29-1) that has stepped up in a surprising move as he fought as a super cruiser/bridgerweight in his last fight.

Schwarz is ranked # 13 by the EBU at heavyweight.

January 4 is the deadline for purse bids or agreements.

Kabayel is of course set to fight the very dangerous Aslanbek Makhmudov (18-0) on December 23 in Riyadh, as part of the big boxing card that features Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder. And Kabayel enters the ring as a big underdog with the betting sites.

Schwarz has a single loss on his record, to Tyson Fury, but he also never fought any of the bigger names.

………………………..

Swedish light heavyweight/super middleweight Erik Skoglund (28-1) suffered a serious head injury six years ago, but is training for a comeback and now World Boxing News and Swedish paper Expressen have looked into this.

Skoglund wants to be top fit before he embarks on obtaining a license, but Expressen reports he has problems with his short-term memory and that the right side of his body is weaker than his left. But Erik trains and trains under the motto “impossible is nothing” – and he has made a remarkable recovery from a very serious injury. If ever gets fit enough to fight is a different question though.
