Like he did for Germany at the 2024 EUROs, Jamal Musiala aims to score more goals for Bayern Munich

Like many at Bayern Munich last season, Jamal Musiala struggled at various points last season, mixing moments of quality in with moments of anonymity. In the end, his 10 goals and 6 assists in the league represented a downgrade on his numbers of the previous season. Of course, there are plenty of reasons outside of his control that contributed to his slight regression and it is completely unfair to criticize a 21-year-old for not carrying one of the biggest clubs in the world.

But at this point, fair does not apply anymore. Musiala knows he can do better and shoulder the hopes of millions of people on his back. He proved his ability to do this for Germany during the 2024 Euros, after all. Now, speaking to reporters Vinzent Tschirpe and Maximilian Koch, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, Musiala detailed his plan to do the same with Bayern: “I think it’s important for me to take steps forward and be better than last season. I don’t want to put a number on goals and assists, I just want to make sure I’m helping the team. Sometimes it’s not about goals and assists to play good games. But I still want to always score goals and collect assists. Even at the Euros, I scored more and more goals: That’s how I want to start the season. In general I just want to help the team win titles.”

It will be new head coach Vincent Kompany’s responsibility to provide Musiala with a better structure and give him the support he needs to make expectations for the former Chelsea FC youngster a little more fair.
