JSO said the situation began earlier this month when Michael Wilt was caught on surveillance footage smashing the glass door of a dollar store on Blanding Boulevard.
βSurveillance footage showed a suspect smashing the glass front door, breaking into a display case, and making off with a stash of cigarettes. But this wasnβt an isolated hitβseveral other dollar stores in the area had reported similar burglaries,β JSO said.
The agency said officers staked out a dollar store on 103rd Street and caught Wilt as he was attempting to break into another dollar store.
β[Wilt] was quickly taken into custody,β JSO said. βWe used surveillance from the other break-ins to connect Wilt to the crimes, [and] now, Wilt is behind bars at the Duval County Jail.β
