Northern New York is set to welcome a state-of-the-art food hub and cooking school, thanks to a $5 million grant awarded to Champlain Valley Educational Services (CVES). The announcement was celebrated in Plattsburgh Friday, with the state’s Agriculture Commissioner joining North Country leaders to mark this significant investment in the region’s future.The new facility, which will be located on Military Turnpike in the town of Plattsburgh, aims to offer students hands-on culinary experiences, utilizing local ingredients. According to educators, this project is expected to not only enhance students’ educational opportunities but also boost the local economy by supporting the area’s agricultural sector.Eric Bell, Ph.D., the assistant superintendent of management services at CVES, emphasized the broader vision of the project.“It’s a future where students will engage in hands-on learning, where education directly meets the evolving needs of business and industry.
