April 4 (SeeNews) – Slovenia’s consolidated budget was in deficit of 379 million euro ($412 million) in the first quarter of 2024, the finance ministry said on Thursday.
Budget revenues in the first three months of 2024 rose by 4% on the year to 3.1 billion euro, while expenditure grew 5.3% to 3.5 billion euro, the finance ministry said in a statement.
Tax revenue in January-March totalled 2.7 billion euro, 9.4% more than in the same period last year, with value-added tax (VAT) inflow going up 5.1% to 1.2 billion euro and income tax inflows increasing by 27.4% to 563 million euro, the finance ministry noted.
Slovenia allocated 254 million euro for investments, 42.4% more than in the same period last year, as well as 143 million euro for transfers to individuals and households.
The country closed 2023 with a consolidated budget deficit of 2.3 billion euro, down from a 1.4 billion euro deficit in the previous year.
