Two squads with a lot of firepower meet for continental bragging rights on Sunday, as England and Spain face off in the 2025 UEFA Women’s European Championship final.
England is looking to do something that has only been accomplished once before, and that’s win back-to-back European titles. Germany did it multiple times, including its impressive six-tournament win streak that spanned almost two decades.

The Lionesses certainly have had to grind their way to the final. After finishing second in Group D, the team needed penalties to beat Sweden in the quarterfinals before outlasting Italy in extra time on Tuesday.
England is 1-2 in Euro finals, losing in 1984 and 2009.
Despite being a huge favorite heading into the tournament, Spain is simply happy to be here. Prior to this year’s event, La Roja had only made it to the semifinals once, that coming back in 1997. Now, the team is looking to make due in its first championship match appearance.
Spain lambasted the competition in the opening round, finishing 3-0 to win Group B by scoring a tournament-leading 14 goals. After having a relatively easy time against Switzerland in the quarters, they took down Germany in a thrilling 1-0 victory in extra time on Wednesday.
