France looks to build off an impressive win when they go up against Wales in UEFA Women’s European Championship action on Wednesday.
France had a tough test right off the hop in Switzerland, having to face the defending European champions in England last Saturday. However, thanks to a favorable VAR decision in the first half, the French took over with goals from Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Sandy Baltimore to send the side into the half up by two. Even though England managed to push late, France was able to hang on to score a 2-1 win, putting them a win away from a certain berth in the knockout stage.

Wales entered Group D as heavy underdogs, as their effort against the Netherlands on Matchday 1 proved that to be true. They hardly maintained possession on a consistent basis. Though they almost took the Dutch to halftime scoreless, the wheels fell off for the Welsh in the final 45 minutes, giving up a pair of goals on their way to a 3-0 loss.
With this being the country’s first shot at the Euros, Wales is going to do its best to make it worthwhile.
