The Swedes look to punch their ticket to the 2025 UEFA Women’s European Championship semifinals with a win on Thursday, as they go up against the reigning champions, England.
Sweden has shown why it is considered by some to be one of the best countries in the world. Their defense has been stout and the team’s attack has been near ruthless in stretches. The Swedes went on to win each of their three matches in the opening round, including hammering Germany, 4-1, on Saturday to clinch first place in Group C.

Blågult has made it to the semifinals in two of the past three Euros, finishing third in the last tournament three years ago.
Things did not start off ideally for England, losing to France in its first match. Yet, the Lionesses were able to recover in a big way. After beating the Netherlands on Matchday 2, they ran away with a 6-1 win over Wales to secure second place in Group D and advance to the quarterfinals for a third straight Euro.
Now, the English squad eyes a third consecutive semifinal appearance as well.
This is a rematch of the semifinal in Sheffield three years ago, when the Lionesses snagged a 4-0 win before going on to win the county’s first Women’s Euro title.
