BRANCH COUNTY — Former County administrator candidate Jessica Miller, 39, will begin work as the Branch County Deputy County administrator/finance director March 31.
Administrator Frank Walsh announced the hire on Monday after interviewing two finalists.
Miller, the current assistant to St. Joseph County Administrator Teresa Cupp, has been there for the last 18 months, starting as the executive financial assistant in March 2020.
Miller spent 17 years at Century Bank and Trust in Coldwater, ending her career as a commercial loan officer and vice president of business services.
Miller received a bachelor’s degree in business with an accounting major from Western Michigan University.
Walsh asked the county commission to allow him to hire a financial director shortly after taking over Jan. 1 for retiring administrator Bud Norman.
Walsh said, “We found exactly what we sought in reviewing candidates. I’m amazed that we found the perfect fit and did not impact our budget in the process.”

Details of her salary were not announced. The advertised salary range was $90,000 to $98,000.
Miller, a Quincy native, is currently responsible for human resources, grant writing, and financial analysis in St. Joseph County.

Commissioners named Miller one of three finalists to replace Norman before selecting Walsh.

Miller qualified to run in 2020 for Branch County Treasurer. She withdrew because she sold her home in Branch County and moved to Colon in St. Joseph County.
