WE’RE TALKING MONEY IN OKLAHOMA’S FIFTH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT. THE FIFTH DISTRICT INCLUDES THE NORTHERN HALF OF THE OKC METRO AND TOWNS TO THE EAST. AND SOUTHEAST, INCLUDING CHOCTAW, SHAWNEE AND SEMINOLE. OUR EVAN ONSTOT IN STUDIO NOW AND EVAN, A DEMOCRAT, HELD THE SEAT AS RECENTLY AS FOUR YEARS AGO. THAT IS TRUE. BUT EVER SINCE THAT DISTRICT WAS REDRAWN HAD ITS BOUNDARIES REDRAWN THREE YEARS AGO, DEMOCRATS HAVE NOT COME CLOSE TO TAKING IT BACK. AND THE CURRENT FUNDRAISING ADVANTAGE IN THIS YEAR’S RACE SHOWS THAT CHALLENGE. THE INCUMBENT HERE IS REPUBLICAN CONGRESSWOMAN STEPHANIE BICE, SEEKING A THIRD TERM. HER CHALLENGER IS DEMOCRAT MADISON HORN, A CYBERSECURITY EXPERT WHO, YOU MAY REMEMBER, CHALLENGED JAMES LANKFORD, UNSUCCESSFULLY, FOR HIS SEAT IN THE U.S. SENATE TWO YEARS AGO. ACCORDING TO THE MOST RECENTLY RELEASED CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORTS, CONGRESSWOMAN BICE HAS A COMMANDING LEAD IN FUNDRAISING AND SPENDING, AS WELL AS HOW MUCH HE STILL HAS IN HER CAMPAIGN ACCOUNT. $1.9 MILLION RAISED, $1.2 MILLION SPENT, AND ACCORDING TO THE FEDERAL ELECTION COMMISSION, BI STILL HAS $1.4 MILLION READY TO GO IF NEEDED. AND YOU COMPARE THAT TO MADISON HORN, WHO HAS RAISED $516,000, INCLUDING 20,000 OF HER OWN MONEY, AND SPENT 456,000. HORN, THOUGH AT THE END OF SEPTEMBER, ONLY HAD ABOUT $60,000 IN HER ACCOUNT. WE ASKED HORN ABOUT HER LACK OF CAMPAIGN CASH THIS MORNING, SHE SAID. SHE’S MORE CONCERNED ABOUT GETTING OUT AND MEETING VOTERS FACE TO FACE. PEOPLE WANT TO BE MET FACE TO FACE. With just 12 days until the election, campaign finance reports show a significant fundraising gap between incumbent Rep. Stephanie Bice and challenger Madison Horn in Oklahoma’s 5th Congressional District.

With just 12 days until the Nov. 5 election, campaign finance reports reveal a significant fundraising gap between incumbent Rep. Stephanie Bice and challenger Madison Horn in Oklahoma’s 5th Congressional District.The 5th District includes the northern half of the Oklahoma City metro area and towns to the east and southeast, including Choctaw, Shawnee and Seminole. The district had its boundaries redrawn three years ago, adding more conservative areas to the district previously blue district. The current fundraising advantage in this year’s race shows that challenge.The incumbent is Republican Congresswoman Bice, who is seeking a third term.
