A new finance director has been hired by the City of Lockport to succeed the director who resigned in January.
Daniel Cavallari, a lifelong city resident, began work at city hall on Tuesday.
A Certified Public Accountant, Cavallari most recently worked for a real estate firm. He’s a graduate of Canisius College, where he earned both his undergraduate degree and his Master of Business Administration degree.
Cavallari was hired to replace Tim Russo, who left extensive notes for his successor.
“It appears he was a really detailed oriented person,” Cavallari said.
Mayor John Lombardi described Cavallari as being at the top of the list of applicants for the post, despite his lack of experience with municipal finance.
“Tim Russo left catalogs of information. Dan should be able to walk right into the job,” Lombardi said. “The accounting staff will also bring him up to date; he’s got a good team there.”
