CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne’s City Council sent a contract with Volunteers of America Northern Rockies worth $136,875 to the city’s Finance Committee for review Monday before returning for final approval in an upcoming council meeting.
The action took place as part of the council’s consent agenda.
The contract would have Volunteers of America Northern Rockies providing social, non-medical alcohol and drug detoxification services. Funding would be provided for the Alcohol Receiving Center in Sheridan, per city documents.
The ARC is a non-medical detoxification center that provides a safe and supportive environment for people who are intoxicated or under the influence of drugs. The center is staffed by trained professionals who can provide support and assistance to clients as they go through the withdrawal process.
The City of Cheyenne’s contract with Volunteers of America Northern Rockies will provide funding for the ARC to continue operating for the next year. The contract is worth $136,875 and will be paid in one lump sum on or before Jan. 15, 2025, if approved.
The Alcohol Receiving Center is located at 1876 S. Sheridan Ave. in Sheridan.
