$2.5 million ‘evaporated’ from Livingston Parish funds following independent audit report

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Parish President Randy Delatte says $2.5 million seems to have evaporated from the Livingston Parish government funds. This comes as an outside audit firm shared its final report at the council meeting on August 8.

Faulk and Winkler Certified Public Accountants found that since 2012, there have been a number of entries on their books showing money the parish should’ve received, but did not. Delatte says he knows the previous administration and does not suspect any intentional wrongdoing.

Delatte says the audit form found several discrepancies, mainly in 2021 and 2022. He says it could’ve been a matter of incorrect entries on their books carrying through the years. WAFB asked if there was any taxpayer money missing.

“In my opinion, no. But, you know, that’s my opinion. A legislative auditor is gonna have the final say,” Delatte says.

Delatte says they are not asking for an investigation through the Louisiana Legislative Auditor because he believes it could’ve been compounded mistakes that got them to this point.
