BERLIN, Md. – The Eastern Shore will be seeing nearly $5 million in grant funding from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development’s Community Development Block Grant.
Among those local recipients is the town of Berlin, which will be receiving $100,000 in the FY25 . The funds will go towards preliminary architectural and engineering services for the construction of a new community center on Flower Street.
“Not only are we just building a community center, but we’re preserving a site of history, for our town and our community that goes back generations. So, there’s really that that fabric of who we are and what we stand for. And, we’re going to bring that to life in our new community center,” said Berlin Mayor Zack Tyndall.
Tyndall added that the town will be working with BEACON from Salisbury University, surveying the Berlin community to find out what features and amenities people want to see in their new community center.
