BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Hollidaysburg Borough police say one Blair County official is facing theft-related charges after she allegedly admitted to stealing thousands of dollars in county funds.
Police say 58-year-old Brenda Bryan, who served as the county’s Deputy Treasurer, reportedly confessed, earlier this year, to taking over $17,000 in a couple months span.
According to the affidavit, police were called to the county courthouse, in late February, after Bryan allegedly walked into work one day and admitted to stealing county funds.
Police say Bryan later claimed that she spent all of the stolen funds on gambling, at various Skill machines.
Investigators note that Bryan reportedly kept the deposit tickets in order to keep track of how much money she needed to pay back to the county.
Police say a county audit determined that Bryan stole a total of $17,987.20, between December of 2024 and Feb. of 2025.
According to online court records, Bryan is facing three felonies of theft and receiving stolen property. She is free on unsecured bail.
