CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — The 2024 end of year audit for Cambria County has been completed and the results were presented to commissioners on Thursday.
County officials say the results show that Cambria County was essentially in line with what the 2024 budget said it would be.
But while the presentation shows the county is in stable position, there was a deficit for 2024, after COVID-19 relief money was spent in previous years and is no longer available.
The county did pay off around 9 million dollars in debt, which commissioners want to keep doing.
“We expected the budget to use 10 million dollars in reserves. According to today’s results, we used 8.6 million in reserve, so it was better than we were expecting, but there’s still a lot of work to do.”
The county’s partnership with Wessel and Company, who performed the audit, says getting the results back in the middle of the following year, and not towards the end of a budget year, helps give the county an understanding of where its finances are at.
