CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One organization will now be able to better support people in need in the Queen City.

Heal Charlotte is celebrating the opening of its new community campus Wednesday on the site of a former motel on Equipment Drive in north Charlotte. City Council voted last September to allocate more than $6 million to area nonprofits whose mission supports housing.

Heal Charlotte received $2.5 million of those funds.

The goal of the community center is to give those who are experiencing homelessness a chance to get back on their feet.

“We have partnerships with a plethora – an ecosystem – of wrap-around services and organizations that we couldn’t do this work without,” said Heal Charlotte founder Greg Jackson. “This is a real unprecedented time in Charlotte, and I’m blessed to be a part of it.”
