Chords for Cure celebrates 4th of July and raises funds

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – People enjoyed celebrating the holiday in Bangor Thursday night.

Before fireworks, there was a concert at the Bangor Waterfront.

The Chords for a Cure show featured 2 bands, Marionette and the Stone Doctors.

There was also plenty of food trucks for everyone to enjoy.

The event was free but donations help raise funds to support sick children in the area.

“They come down here and play for free, just so that we have the opportunity to help kids over in Brewer at the Lafayette Center who were not as fortunate and are fighting the battle of their lives,” said Tony Bernatche, President of the Greater Bangor 4th of July Corporation.

“July 4 really is about coming together for the country but also community. And so this is a way of really doing something for the community. Children are sick children need help, and you’re helping us help those children,” said Ian Dickey, Entertainment Director of the Greater Bangor 4th of July Corporation.

Last year’s event raised over $8,000.
