More effective Bureau of Codes enforcement and zoning work is expected to be accomplished as the City of Williamsport agreed to use $26,000 in American Rescue Plan funds for a vehicle for the Bureau of Codes and zoning administrator.
City Council authorized the bureau to enter into an agreement with Stuckey Ford, Hollidaysburg, for purchase of one 2025 Ford Escape, not to exceed $26,342.
Gary Knarr, code and zoning administrator, will be the primary user of the vehicle to accomplish the multiple codes and zoning tasks.
The cost of the vehicle is paid for using the portion of the American Rescue Plan. The city was awarded $25.4 million in ARPA funding, which has been allocated and must be spent by the end of 2026. To ensure these funds are spent in compliance with the law, the city has retained UHY, who are specialists and monitor changes by the U.S. Treasury, updating council periodically over the course of a year.
