CANTON — The St. Lawrence County Board of Elections has authorized rolling over more than $87,000 in state aid as part of a Cybersecurity Remediation Grant Program.
Officials approved a contract to accept the funds along with a corresponding budget modification to use the funds.
State officials had previously notified the Board of Elections that the grant deadlines would be extended to March 31, 2026 for any grants with an unexpended balance.
St. Lawrence County still has a remaining balance of $87,724 as part of the grant, which will be used for fees, services, office supplies and various other expenses.
In other action, legislators also approved an agreement to accept an electronic poll book grant totaling $79,101.
The state aid will be used to acquire technical equipment and supplies for electronic poll books.
Legislators also signed off on a third resolution to request grant extensions for the Technology Innovation and Election Resource (TIER) Grant Program, allowing the county to roll over $196,337 in state aid.
The grant fund, which allows unexpended funds to be rolled over annually through legislative approval annually, will allow the county to use the funds through March 31, 2026.
The expended balance of the grant sits at $308,084, with $111,747.11 included in the 2025 budget, necessitating the budget modification.
A final resolution was also passed to spend $19,747 in grant funding to pay for supplies for the Ballot by Mail Program as part of a larger Ballot by Mail Program Grant totaling $4,746.61.
