ELEC has now distributed $25 million in matching funds

The New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission today sent $593,247 to Republican Jack Ciattarelli, representing the final disbursement of matching funds in the 2025 governor’s race.

Ciattarelli and Democrat Mikie Sherrill have each received $12.5 million under New Jersey’s Gubernatorial Public Financing Program, which matches most contributions at a $2 for every $1 level.

ELEC has distributed a record amount this year, including $38,360,556 in the gubernatorial primaries.

Ciattarelli announced last month that he’d raised enough to qualify for the full match.  It’s not clear why it took this long to process his disbursement.

Participation in the program comes with an $18.5 million spending cap, but super PACs and independent expenditures can continue spending to support their favored candidate.
