Elkhorn church selling shirts to raise tornado relief funds

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – New shirts are selling at this year’s College World Series sporting the mantra “Let’s Get ‘Em Home.”

“St. Patrick’s Catholic Church was chosen as one of the charities for the College World Series,” said volunteer Stacey DeMuth. “We came up with our t-shirt design in hopes of raising more funds for us to use to directly help our neighbors who are working to get back to their homes.”

The idea stemmed from April, when tornadoes decimated homes throughout the metro. St. Patrick’s Catholic Church helped families with storm clean up and helped them relocate to new homes.

St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elkhorn is selling shirts to raise funds for tornado relief at this year’s College World Series.

“We want the community to know there are still many families clearing out homes and there are still volunteer needs in Elkhorn for people to come help these families,” DeMuth said.

DeMuth told 6 News the price of the t-shirts depends on how much people decide to donate.

All the money goes to help tornado victims like the Schindler family, who lost their house. They’re happy to call a place their temporary home.

“I cannot have been associated with a better community, church, and school,” Laura Schindler said. “Seeing them two months after still supporting and reaching out is incredible.”

Theshirts will be located at the Omaha Baseball Village near 13th and Mike Fahey Street.

St. Patrick’s Catholic Church will have their tent set up starting all weekend from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4-6 p.m.
