Fairmont City Council reallocates $646,000 in COVID funds for other projects

FAIRMONT, W.Va (WDTV) – The Fairmont City Council is reallocating $646,000 in COVID funds for projects around the city.

The funds were originally allocated to the city through the American Rescue Plan Act to fund projects that improve public health and lessen the economic impact of COVID-19.

In the council’s meeting Tuesday, they voted to re-distribute these funds.

$84,000 will be used to improve Windmill Park while another $562,000 will be allocated to improve the sanitary sewer collection and treatment system in the city. Those funds will be distributed to multiple projects within that category, including $227,000 that will go to a new wastewater treatment plant chlorine building.

The council voted unanimously to pass the resolution.
