Golfers raise funds for YWCA in Carnation Scramble

Three divisions of golfers enjoyed a day of golf Aug. 1 at Tannenhauf Golf Club for the 30th Carnation Scramble.

The event, a fundraiser for YWCA of Alliance, directly benefits vital local programs such as Meals on Wheels and after-school tutoring.

The three divisions of golf competition were named after golf equipment brands. Srixon was a mixed division, while Callaway was men and Bridgestone was for the women. The match was a step-aside scramble.

Golf teams from Marlington Middle and High schools pitched in at Tannenhauf as bag boys and scorekeepers. Main sponsors included The Tolerton Family, Wayne Homes and Ted’s Auto, which sponsored the hole-in-one contest. Greater Alliance Carnation Festival Queen Brooke Figenschuh and her court were on hand to wish golfers luck and pass out water.

The winning team in the Callaway division of the 2025 Carnation Scramble golf outing included Mike Hain, Tim Heavner, Jaret Majestic and Scott Weekly, which scored 57. The divisions in the outing were named for golf merchandise companies.
