NEW TOWN – Participants took the plunge and jumped into the frigid water of Lake Sakakawea for the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation’s ninth annual Ice Warrior Plunge on Wednesday at the 4 Bears Marina, west of New Town.
Lovell Overlie, a spokesperson for the Office of Mark Fox, chairman of the MHA Nation, said as of Wednesday, the event raised $72,000, with pledges still coming in. There were 103 participants.
Funds from the Ice Warrior Plunge will go to the MHA Nation Cancer Fund and the American Indian Cancer Foundation. The event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years.
