Jen Lilley Funds Heart Surgery for Young Boy From her Song ‘King of Hearts’

Great American Family actress and also singer-songwriter, Jen Lilley, was reminded of the beautiful miracle she provided for a young boy five years ago.
Through the nonprofit organization, Project Orphans, Lilley provided the funds for open heart surgery for John Senkula.
According to the organizations website, “Project Orphans is a multi-layered non-profit organization focused on helping vulnerable children and families by igniting grass-root causes and providing programs that overcome poverty and injustice.”
“Following your heart can create ripples of change. Each of us has the power to make a difference, and on the other side of our yes can be a life-changing story for someone who needs it the most,” the nonprofit shared on their social media page.
“On this day, our beautiful friend @jen_lilley got to meet our miracle child, John Senkula. Five years ago, John had a life-threatening medical condition that required open heart surgery,” they continued to write. “His family was unable to afford the medical fees and began to believe that John was not going to survive. Through a series of events, Jen Lilley fully funded John’s surgery with the proceeds from her song ‘King of Hearts.’”
“John and his family were overwhelmed to meet Jen. There were tears all around,” the post concluded. “An unforgettable moment, where two hearts were joined from across the world. We are so grateful for Jen’s compassion, John’s life is forever changed, and his heart is stronger than ever.”
Lilley often partakes in service projects around the world with Project Orphans.
In a recent post on her Instagram, Lilley wrote, “This was hands down, my favorite service project EVER!!!! We got to replace a leaking thatch roof, make the house taller, and install a metal roof. I don’t have a final photo, but this day was simply incredible. It meant so much to the family. They cried. I cried.”
“And then my inner child, who played in the dirt way too much, got to come out and make mud pies and learn how to make a real mud hut,” she continued. “I finally have a skill for the apocalypse that’s more useful than encouraging others 😆🙌❤️. I hope I get to do this again. Best day ever. Thank you @project_orphans for everything you do every single day! You love SO well!!”
