GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Hockey isn’t only a sport for one local club but a way to learn vital life lessons.
That’s the case for the Grand Junction River Hawks Hockey Club — which is available for both boys and girls — which has a goal of creating a positive and competitive environment with one and off-ice activities to create progression, integrity and life skills for the players.
Due to the hockey club’s work, the Western Colorado Contractor’s Association (WCCA) wants to honor the club with a $2,500 check. Both groups will hold a check presentation ceremony at 6 p.m., Monday, July 15, at RiverCity Sportplex, 2515 Riverside Pkwy.
The money comes from the WCCA Spring Golf Tournament, which happened on June 1. The funds will help the hockey club by giving athletes a chance to grow through the guidance of coaching, parent involvement and teamwork, according to the WCCA.
Western Colorado Contractor’s Association is a nonprofit that represents the construction industry in the western part of the state. It has raised funds for the Special Olympics, Boy Scouts, 4-H sports and more.
