Louisville police foundation raising funds for LMPD officer whose wife died in car crash | News

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Louisville Metro Police Foundation is gathering donations for a family facing tragedy.

LMPD Sgt. Chris Lane’s wife Erendida died in a car crash. Lane’s 14-year-old daughter was also injured, but she is expected to recover.

Erendida Lane, 40, was married to the LMPD officer for 19 years and they had two children. They met when Lane was serving with the U.S. Marines.

Lane was shot in the face while on duty in 2021.

“Erendida stood proudly by Chris, demonstrating unwavering support for his commitment to serve and protect the city of Louisville,” the Foundation posted on Facebook. “Now, Sergeant Lane and his children need our support. They have sacrificed so much for our community; please join us in showing our appreciation. Together we can ease their financial burden during this difficult time and help provide for the future of his children.”

The foundation is encouraging people to donate to Lane and his family. Donations can be submitted by clicking here or through Venmo to @LouisvilleMetro-PoliceFoundati. Checks can also be sent to Louisville Metro Police Foundation for Chris and the kids at 982 Eastern Parkway, Box 5, Louisville KY 40217.
