Celebrating life.

It’s what people strive to do in this short life, and when there is a special occasion, gathering with friends and family makes it all the more memorable.

That’s just what the local Millennium Society and the Sons and Daughters of Italy have in store as they organize a New Year’s Eve Party for Dec. 31, 2024, in the Sons’ heated courtyard at 1 N. Henderson St. in Lock Haven.

If you recall, the society held its first celebration on Y2K – Dec. 31, 1999. That event attracted hundreds of partygoers and set the stage for parties to come.

Indeed, the society followed that with two other parties, and now they are marking the 25th anniversary of the Millenium with this coming New Year’s Eve bash.

And is it going to be special!

Not only that, proceeds from the party will benefit four local non-profits working to make this a caring and better place to live: The Infant Development Center helping special needs children; the Clinton County Special Olympics supporting residents with disabilities; Horses of Hope providing therapeutic services to the handicapped and the military; and the Clinton County Arts Council and its popular LH Jams arts and music festival.

“This is going to be a lot of fun,” echoed Louie Anastos, his wife, Catherine; Dan Vilello and his wife, Sharon, as they gathered recently in the lodge’s courtyard.

Mirroring the parties of the past, the Society is putting together a robust menu of food served at a seafood station, a sandwich station, a saute station, a salad station, a crudite platter and a dessert station. Plus, hot dogs, sauerkraut and champagne will be served at midnight.

Farrington Place is catering the event.

Father and son, Bill and Jon-Chris Hatalski will perform at the Millennium Society’s New Year’s Eve Party to raise funding for local nonprofits.

And then there’s music!

The multi-talented musician and local native, Bill Hatalski — accompanied by his son, Jon-Chris Hatalski — will perform starting at 6:30 p.m. Born and raised in Lock Haven, Bill has been performing since he was a teenager and is very well known locally.

They will be followed by the also popular, Centre County-based rock band, Velveeta, at 9 p.m.

The Lodge is closed that day, except for the partygoers, meaning those attending will have both courtyard and lodge space to sit and roam about.

There will be two bars open and two sets of restrooms. Entrance is only through the front door facing Henderson Street. The venue is handicapped accessible.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 31; dress is holiday cocktail attire.

Information about tickets and the event can be gained by calling Stella A’s at 570-748-5600, or the Lodge at 570-748-2013.

Sponsors include HTD Real Estate Rentals LLC; Central Pennsylvania Auto Auction; Emert Accounting; Diversified Asset Planners; Woodlands Bank; Doc Sweitzer; Keystone Bingo; P&D Games; Jersey Shore State Bank and The Express/www.lockhaven.com, Laser Wash and First Citizens Community Bank.

Tickets are $90 and are available at Stella A’s; Sons Lodge; Skeleton Key and Pearl’s Cafe, all in Lock Haven.

The Society has used this motto all along for its gatherings: “A most excellent food spread … and more characters in one place than ever before in the history of Lock Haven.”
