New tool makes finding conservation funding easier
A new online directory makes finding conservation funding easier for farmers.
The manager of the Illinois Sustainable Ag Partnership (ISAP) says their Financial Incentives Database, or FIND, tool allows farmers to sort through over 60 incentive programs. Helen VanBeck tells Brownfield…
“The database can be filtered by county, by type of farming operation, and by practices that the farmer is interested in using,” she says.
She says the goal is to make it easier for farmers to find programs encouraging soil health building practices.
“Financial costs can often be a burden for farmers, who might be interested in adopting conservation practices.” She says, “We need to make it really easy for farmers to get over that financial hurdle.”

VanBeck spoke with Brownfield at the annual meeting of the Association of Illinois Soil & Water Conservation Districts.
