A trio of communities in Northeast Ohio has been awarded a total of $1,225,000 in state funding for three projects, state Sen. Jerry Cirino, R-Kirtland, recently announced.
The Ohio Controlling Board approved funding for the Fine Arts Association in Willoughby, the May Dugan Center in Cleveland and the Two Foundation in Chagrin Falls.
“Each of these projects received my full support in the previous capital budget,” said Cirino, who serves as Senate Finance chairman. “I know that the funds for these projects will be used to enhance the quality of life for the people in their communities.”
The Fine Arts Association will receive $500,000 for renovations to the Corning Auditorium.
The space is used to educate students in dance, music, theater, and visual arts while also hosting musical and dramatic performances throughout the year.
Additionally, the May Dugan Center will receive $350,000 from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction to support program space renovation and expansion.
Established in 1969, the May Dugan Center assists individuals in overcoming socioeconomic disadvantages by providing the skills necessary for self-sufficiency through a variety of programs and services.
Additionally, Two Foundation has been granted $375,000 by the Ohio Office of Budget and Management for the purchase of a training facility.
The nonprofit organization serves to “create opportunities for people of all abilities to connect, work, grow and thrive.”
The new facility, which will be known as the Two Foundation Training Center, will be utilized for skill assessment and feature fully integrated work settings, including a café, shops, kitchen, offices, and manufacturing space, while providing real-world experiences and supporting job-readiness programs.
“I’m proud to see Two Foundation receive funding,” Cirino said. “The appropriation for this project will be used to continue the mission of supporting individuals with disabilities as well as their families.”
