ALBANY, N.Y. — Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that $30 million will be fast-tracked to help New Yorkers facing food insecurity.
If the federal government remains shut down through Saturday, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will be paused, officials said.
The state said the emergency funds will provide 16 million meals across New York, with an additional $11 million allocated to food banks.
If you are a New York State resident who uses SNAP, you will be notified by November 1 of any official updates regarding the status of your November benefits.
